COMPOSITE SOFTWARE'S VIRTUAL DATA INTEGRATION RECOGNIZED AS STRONG DATA MANAGEMENT SOLUTION

Butler Group Finds Composite Information Server 4.6’s Interface and Automatic Code Generation Valuable New Features

SAN MATEO, Calif. - April 04, 2008Composite Software, Inc., the virtual data integration company, today announced that a product evaluation by industry analyst firm Butler Group, a Datamonitor company, recommends that organizations with a diverse range of applications needing to consolidate data virtually, as well as those transitioning to service-oriented architecture (SOA), would benefit from using the company’s newest solution, Composite Information Server 4.6.

“Butler Group thinks very highly of the visual, declarative capabilities of the Composite Information Server’s modeling environment,” writes author Angela Eager, senior analyst at the UK-based Butler Group. “The combination of an intuitive interface for data service design and automatic generation of the code, means developers can concentrate on the content of the data service rather than writing SQL, WSDL or defining XML schemas, [thereby] speeding up the creation process.”

The report determined that the Composite Information Server is a strong solution for integrating live data in real time across disparate systems and is particularly good at accessing packaged application data that is notoriously difficult to access.  The Composite Information Server also adds value by pushing relevant information to users throughout the organization in an easily digestible format.

The report summarizes that the Composite Information Server:

  • Addresses the need to dynamically access, combine and repurpose data to improve strategic and operational business efficiency;
  • Has multiple caching capabilities, clustering and optimization to tackle performance, scalability and data-source workload issues;
  • Accesses data in real time from multiple sources, including transactional applications, relational databases and XML files. It then combines, abstracts and simplifies source data before delivering it via Web Service Description Language (WSDL), web services or SQL relational views to third-party, data-consuming clients;
  • Accesses packaged-application data via optional, pre-built data services through vendor-certified API’s for packaged applications including SAP, Oracle and Siebel;
  • Utilizes extensive industry standards to be technology and application agnostic;
  • Can be slotted into mixed environments of legacy and new applications and architectures and pull data together for real-time operational purposes; and
  • Transforms data into SQL (the language designed to join data within and across databases and tables) to enable queries to be passed through its optimizer, which optimizes queries to collect the minimum amount of data from the data sources it interacts with.

According to the report, Composite’s business value lies in providing a means for organizations to make greater use of their existing data. Composite Information Server goes a long way towards reducing the complexity of the task by taking care of the technical aspects of the information integration operation, leaving developers free to put the bulk of their efforts into defining the type and identifying the data required for new data services.
