COMPOSITE SOFTWARE, INC. EXPANDS OPERATIONS TO MEET EUROPEAN DEMAND FOR ITS DATA VIRTUALIZATION SOLUTIONS

  • Spain-based System Integrator (SI), PowerData, to Resell and Implement Composite Offerings
  • Two Sales Managers Added to Composite's European Team
  • Moves In Response to Growth of Major European Accounts Over Past 12 Months

SAN MATEO, CALIF. — June 2, 2009 – Composite Software, Inc., the data virtualization leader, recently expanded its European operations by adding two sales managers and signing an additional European SI as a reseller. Nick Salt and Rich Kaplan will be responsible for developing new customers for Composite’s award-winning product line in the UK and Europe.  PowerData, a Spanish System Integrator specializing in data management, will resell and implement Composite’s technology in Spain.

Composite’s expansion of its internal staff and SI partners in Europe is due to the company’s successful expansion of major accounts in the region over the past 12 months. Large European enterprises increasingly adopted Composite’s data virtualization technology for both projects and at an enterprise-wide scale, including three of Europe’s top five money center banks, Europe’s second largest pharmaceutical company, Europe’s number three cellular phone provider, and Europe’s top two integrated energy companies.

Trends Driving Demand for Composite’s Data Virtualization

“Composite Software’s method of decoupling data from business applications and presenting it as if in one data location/data format is helping global enterprises master their information systems’ complexity, and this is timely,” notes Rick van der Lans, managing director of R20/Consultancy B.V., The Netherlands.

In his four-part series, "The Flaws of the Classic Data Warehouse Architecture," van der Lans identifies the general need for what he calls the data delivery platforms (DDP). The essence of DDP is the decoupling of data from business applications.  In his third article in the series, a May 12 B-Eye-Network article, http://www.b-eye-network.com/view/10342, van der Lans identifies Composite Software, IBM, and Oracle as the three vendors currently offering enterprise information integration (EII), or data virtualization middleware. He summarizes the role of EII as it relates to a DDP as follows: “It could well be that the DDP, in the coming years, is at heart an EII product. However, the current EII products do not have all the features we want. So let’s say the DDP will be based on an EII++ tool.”

Sales Professionals Underscore Composite Software’s Commitment to Europe

Nick Salt, who will guide Composite’s sales and partnering efforts in Northern Europe, joins Composite from data integration vendor Ab Initio. “Composite’s virtual approach to data integration--with its focus on rapid-time-to-solution and vastly lower, total-cost-of-ownership--is an excellent match for the challenges facing complex European enterprises today,” Salt said. Richard Kaplan, a Composite veteran who had been leading sales development efforts in the US Federal and Central regions, will leverage his deep account knowledge to accelerate European customer adoption.

PowerData Leads the Way in Spain

PowerData, an SI specializing in the Spanish Data Management market, has agreed to resell and implement Composite’s offerings and thereby deliver a full stack of data integration solutions to Spanish companies. “We believe that Composite’s technology can be key to our customers,” said Alberto Collado, PowerData’s CEO. “Composite’s technology helps solve data initiatives where business changes require a fast response from IT, with a visible ROI in the short term, as well as situations where data volumes and complexity are high, and IT resources are limited. This new agreement allows us to extend the data solutions we offer, expanding our 10-year knowledge of the data integration space with Informatica.”
